Hmmm...there couldn't *possibly* be a rumor that the policeman was "asking for it" because he was on a bicycle? That the driver couldn't possibly be at fault, after all it was just a bicyclist? I mean, come on, we all know how dangerous those bicyclists are.

Oh no, I'll stop now :-(

P.S. I really hope the cyclist was not seriously injured, that he recovers quickly, and is back on a bicycle soon.

...was the Chief wearing a helmet?  The media always tells us if the rider was wearing a helmet.  Oh, and he’s a fair weather cyclist.  Better to be fair, then not to be one at all.  I hope he has a speedy recovery, but who was at fault?  Couldn’t be the chief... But the media always points the finger at the cyclists, don’t they?

This article from the Buffalo, NY area is very interesting. You might notice that it's missing all the little biased tidbits that such media reports of cyclist-motorist collisions tend to feature. Is it that this Nancy A. Fischer is such a principled journalist or the fact that the cyclist hit is the police chief of his community?
